| Started
the Communication Arts program at De La Salle
University (Manila) under the Languages and Literature
Department and was appointed chair for three years
when the program became a full-fledged department
in 1982. At present, del Mundo is full professor
in the Department of Communication at De La Salle.
He holds the Gocolay Professorial Chair in Communication
and has been granted a research professorship.
A
distinguished screenwriter, he has received awards
from the Film Academy of the Philippines and the
Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino. His book Native
Resistance won the best book on film in 1999. |

Clodualdo
del Mundo, Jr. received his A.B. degree in Humanities,
cum laude, from Ateneo de Manila University
(class 1968). He received a Fulbright scholarship
(1972-1974) and finished, his M.S.
in
Radio-Television-Fi1m at the University of Kansas
in Lawrence, Kansas, USA. He received his Ph.D.
in Communication Studies (Film) at the University
of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1994. His areas of specialization
include Screenwriting theory and practice, Philippine
Cinema history and criticism. Documentary Film
and Video, and Film and Video Production.
In 1975, Del Mundo started the Communication
Arts program at De La Salle University (Manila)
under the Languages and Literature Department.
In 1982, the program became a full-fledged department
and Del Mundo was appointed chair until 1985.
At present, Del Mundo is full professor in the
Department of Communication at De La Salle.
He holds the Gocolay Professorial Chair in Communication
and has been granted a research professorship.
Del Mundo is also a distinguished filmmaker,
being a major screenwriter in the country. His
works include Maynila... Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag,
Kisapmata, Batch '81, 'Merika, Mulanay, and
Bayaning 3rd World. His books include Writing
for Film, Philippine Mass Media: A Book of Readings
(ed.), Maynila..., 'Merika, Alyas Raha Matanda:
Tatlong Dulang Pampelikula, and Native Resistance:
Philippine Cinema and Colonialism 1898-1941.
He has received various awards for his screenplays
notably from the Film Academy of the Philippines
and the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipmo. His
book Native Resistance was awarded by the Manila
Critics Circle as the best book on film in 1999.
