| What
is ASPNet?
Associated Schools Project Network (ASPNet)
The ASPNet is envisioned to be the largest youth
network for peace; UNESCO launched it in 1953
after World War II.
ASPNet Mission Statement:
ASPNet is a network of committed schools engaged
in fostering and delivering quality education
in pursuit of peace, liberty, justice and human
development.
As ‘navigators of peace’ and agents
for positive change, ASPNet schools are instruments
to achieve Education for All for Sustainable Development
as well as to implement UNESCO’s strategies
and programs in education, the sciences, culture
and communication.
The uniqueness of ASPNet Schools:
- They are ‘pulse takers’ and ‘educational
pace-setters’ for college teachers’
training, UNESCO community clubs, and for pre-school,
elementary and high school programs;
- They contribute to quality education through
the development of curricula that promotes character
transformation together with: life skills, human
rights, respect for cultural diversity and a
culture of people learning to live together;
- They serve as laboratory of ideas on innovative
approaches to quality education for all;
Strengths of the ASPNet member schools:
- Strong support to promote UNESCO ideals;
- Encourages student leaders;
- Facilitates networking between schools;
- Facilitates inclusion of poorer and remote
parts of the world;
- Very useful for exchange of materials and
ideas
