True to its commitment to education and communication, AIJC lauds the reappointment of AIJC President Ramon R. Tuazon as member of the CHED Technical Panel for Social Sciences and Communication and Chairperson of the Technical Committee for Communication. The reappointment by CHED Chairperson Patricia B. Licuanan is good for a two-year term (2012-2013).

Also reappointed were AIJC Trustee Olivia M. Villafuerte as member of the Committee for Broadcasting and AIJC faculty Dr. Jose Reuben Q. Alagaran as member of the Committee for Communication.

The Technical Panel’s mandates include assisting the Commission in reviewing and revising policies and standards related to the different social science programs, developing instruments for purposes of permit, recognition and monitoring; and reviewing guidelines and criteria for identification of centers of excellence or centers of development. The Technical Committee performs the same mandates but is focused on undergraduate and graduate programs in Communication and Development Communication.

According to Mr. Tuazon, among the priorities of the Committee for the two-year term are finalization of proposed student internship policies, CHED approval of the COE and COD criteria, review of undergraduate curricula in communication and development communication in the light of the new basic education and General Education curricula, and rationalization of degree/program titles of communication-related programs.
