The AIJC was elected sectoral representative to the Philippine CeC Network (PhilCeCNet) Executive Council. PhilCeCNet is the formal organization that brings together all Community eCenters (CeCs) initiated by different entities under one network with a common vision and direction. The election was held at the first general assembly last April 4 during the 4th Knowledge Exchange Conference on CeCs.
The newly elected sectoral representatives are as follows: National Government Agencies – Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCARRD); Local Government Units – Municipality of Infanta, Quezon; Private Sector – Intel Technology Philippines, Inc.; Media – Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC); Non-Government Organizations – Molave Development Foundation, Inc. (MDFI); Academe – UP Open University (UPOU); International Development Agencies – telecenter.org; CeC Managers – Jimmy L. Calata (Nueva Vizcaya CeC); and CeC Users – Carolina Destacamento (Calamba, Laguna CeC).
PhilCeCNet is a multi-sectoral partner of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) in the implementation of the Philippine CeC Program. The CICT, as lead agency for the PhilCeC Program, is an ex-officio voting member of the Council.
The Executive Council, which will serve as the implementing unit of the network, will be meeting some time soon to chart the network’s activities for the year. |
