Proud to be PINOY!

What are you proud of as a Filipino? What do some celebrities like Cesar Montano, Gary Valenciano and Jolina Magdangal feel proud about their being Pinoy?

Dubbed “Doon po sa Amin,” the campaign-contest was launched last Saturday by the Committee on Culture of the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines and the Film Academy of the Philippines in cooperation with Touch Mobile/Globe Telecoms. The brainchild of Leo Martinez, UNESCO Commissioner and FAP Director-General, “Doon po sa Amin” poses the question “Ano ang isang bagay, tao o gawain sa iyong lugar ang puwede mong ipagmalaki?” Answers, such as that of Martinez’ “Ako’y taga Balayan, Batangas kung saan matamis ang santol at sampalok, masaya at basing-basa ang Parada ng Lechon at masarap ang orig na bagoong Balayan” may be sent through text messages to “PRIDE” 2346. Responses may be anything at all that makes you proud of your Filipino roots. Special prizes will be given away to text messages adjudged as the most interesting answers. To view other texters’ Pride messages, text “PROUD ON” and send to 2346.

Celebrities like Arnel Ignacio, Bernadette Sembrano, Cesar Montano, Efren Reyes Jr., Gary Valenciano, Jolina Magdangal, Princess Punzalan, Ronnie Lazaro and Martinez himself have likewise shared their Pinoy pride messages which Globe offers as Ringback Tones that you can download by texting the respective code of each celebrity to 2332.
Through the texting craze, “Doon po sa amin” aims to uplift the Filipino spirit and spread local pride, which should prevail on us.

Be proud! Text PRIDE 2346!
